My Vow
It was 40 years ago
I took him as Husband
We Loved
We Comforted
We Honoured
And protected each other
We forsook all others
Faithfully
Contentedly
He took me as Wife
We had
We held
Through Better
Through Worse
Richer
Poorer
Healthy
Sick
And everything in between
We Cherished
We Respected
We Grew
We Aged
We Laughed
We Cried
And still I cry
But now
I cry alone
For death came and parted us
Suddenly
Silently
Vows made before God
Were supposed to end
There and Then
But right now
My Head
My Heart
Do not know how to stop
